Naming the BT-02
The Blacktrack BT-02 THRUXMAN, inspired by the 1959 Norton Manx and based on a Triumph Thruxton, is a tribute to British motorcycle passion and culture.
The THRUXMAN moniker for the Blacktrack BT-02 is a homage to classic café racer naming conventions. It was commonplace for British customs to possess the engine of one brand, while embodying it in the frame of another brand. Norton and Vincent became 'Norvin,' Norton and Harley-Davidson became 'Norley,' and Triumph and Norton became 'Triton'.
For the BT-02, we wanted to give this tradition a twist. Instead of using the two brand names, we used the names of the two models used to create 'THRUXMAN'.
